Assaf Weksler

I'm a researcher in philosophy at BGU, working with Ori Beck (as part of a program of the Planning & Budgeting Committee of the Council of Higher Education to support hiring excellent researchers in the status of ‘researcher’). I work mainly on empirically informed philosophy of perception.
I'm also a faculty member in philosophy at the Open University of Israel, with the rank of 'course coordinator' (a type of job unique to the Open University). I coordinate advanced courses on epistemology, virtue ethics, and mental representations, and an introduction to philosophy course based on the book "just the arguments".
I previously held an ISF grant to study the iconicity of perception, theoretically and experimentally.
I currently hold a DFG grant titled "Naive Realism under Pressure" (with Ori Beck and Eva Schmidt). The project will run from August 2024 till July 2027.
Starting October 2025, I will be an assistant professor (senior lecturer) at the Department of Humanities and Arts at the Technion.
I'm looking for a postdoctoral researcher for 2025 - 2026, who will join my research group at the Technion.
